You can also remove noise from, for example a bass track with some hiss by using an Apple Low Pass filter, or a Shelf Filter for cutting both ends of the spectrum, etc. You probably have already covered this somewhere else, but for sure, those Apple Audio Unit Extensions are incredibly useful. My older 414 with the es1 system is acting strange. Firstly the bass pot would cause the entire instrument to shut off when turned past noon. I fixed that but I have some strange noises as well. Scratching, hissing, popping. going to try this to see. I use Amazon basics 9v batteries which are tight like the Duracell.

Q: Can we select specific settings such as selecting wav (rather aiff), mp3 (rather m4a), the bitrate for compressed file (320, 256, 192, 128kbps, etc), the sample rate & bit resolusion (44.1, 48, 96khz) (16, 24, 32 bit) in the shortcuts app ?

Apple Music that I’ve purchased and downloaded on to my iPad does not show up in my files as Wav or MP3 so I can’t import them into Logic. Does anyone know a workaround? If someone sends me a song from their apple laptop or MAC, it comes in the proper format so I’m able to stem split from that. But anything that I have on my iPad (even purchased and downloaded from Apple Music) I can’t stem split. I don’t have a computer-only iPad.

Wonderful video (as always), one question Pete..., as far as I understand, it is better to lower the volume before mastering (maybe around -18?), but...when I export to render the final mastered file (after applying the Limiter), should I do the eq 10 db volume lowering you showed us?, or should I let Garageband normalize to 0db (taking into account it is the final stage)?, thank you Pete.

Hi Pete, good video, Soooo... i have an older 5th gen Ipad, (lightning port) I just ordered one of these hubs because I just purchased my first interface, the Audient EVO 4 interface (based on Patricks review of it) and was disappointed to find out that it can't be powered via the genuine Apple lightning to usb 3 adapter, so now I need one of these too (ugh, this is exactly why I resisted DAWs for so long) anyway, based on your Ipad videos, I think I'm gonna upgrade real soon to an Ipad Air 11", 512 M2 model. My interface can be powered via the USB C from that model Ipad (C to C), but how do I keep power to the Ipad while using the interface? Can this hub help with that? I think I'm overwhelmed from all the research on options right now and can't seem to wrap my head around it at the moment. Thanks for all you do!

The other cool thing I’ve noticed is if I bring a loop into Logic on iPad, the chord track reads it so it’s there when I bring it into Logic on my Mac. And I can build a song with the session players around those chords. But if I directly add a loop into the Mac, the chord track doesn’t it. That’s been my experience anyway.

I've always recorded stuff on old crappy analog 4 & 8 tracks. Mine recently broke, but I still have some old high impedance shure mics. Will those work in a modern mixer used in the input jacks that are used to record guitars & bass plugged in directly to the 1/4" jack? I record everything with them; drums, guitars, bass, vocals, sound fx, etc...would hate to have obsolete mics that always worked great with my old fostex 4 track. I love the "crappy" sound of em but don't wanna invest in a new digital mixer if they won't be able to use my high impedance mics 😔
